Preschool

2.5 years – 4.0 years old

(This program is for children older than 2.5 years old and younger than 4.0 years in June.)

The Hummingbirds’ Collaborative School preschool program creates a holistic environment through imitation, repetition and strengthening the “DO-ing intelligence” through healthy movement, creative daily rhythm and experiential learning.  These aspects of the curriculum stimulate the child’s multiple intelligences into wholeness.
 
The preschool child is learning individualization through play, separation, their physical body, their senses, healthy defiance, ability for expression and the willingness to master an activity.

 

Social Intelligence

 

Social Intelligence is encouraged by the cause and effect aspect of actions and words.
 

  • Taking turns

  • Empathy of the other

  • Healthy peer pressure/community building

  • Attentive listening through their senses

  • Learning through creative “adult” language

 
 

Brain Intelligence

 

Brain Intelligence is created through observation, articulation, and healthy movement.

  • Support the pathways of the child’s needs – how they learn

  • Building Confidence through self-care, self-direction and self-responsibility

  • Strengthen the memory capacity through repetition, right speech, and visual cues

  • Strengthen the imagination through music and tones of language

  • Repetition connects the neurons of the brain

 
 

Physical Intelligence

 

Physical Intelligence is created through sensory integration movement and the “Do-ing”.

  • Integrating the neurons of the right and left side of the brain through movement

  • Whole Body Learning – tracking, breath, muscle movement, and engaging the Heart

  • Healthy boundaries – in relationship to space, friends, environment, language

  • Strengthen their will forces through the doing of an activity or play

  • Rhythmical environment and movement

 
 

Sensory Integration

 

Children are nourished through imaginative movements through songs, games, and working in imitation.

  • brings forth a strong imagery to the story telling so that child can feel as if they are the particular character, animal or element

  • organizes sensory inputs so that the brain produces a useful body response and also useful perceptions, emotions, and thoughts.

  • will “mold” the neurons and interconnections to form sensory and motor processes

  • creates a strong foundation of sensory integration in movement strengthens the complexes processes for reading, writing, and mathematics in the later years

 
 

The Daily Rhythm

 

To support the needs of our community and working families, we include morning care and aftercare in our tuition at no extra charge. Our all day program, including morning care and aftercare, is from 7:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. If you wish to not have your child stay for the full day you may drop your child off by 8:30 a.m. and pick them up after 2 p.m. See our tuition rates.
